A girl can dream

I want so much lace on my wedding dress. Lace and tulle.

The pink ribbon reminds me of Pride and Prejudice dresses.

This dress is flawless. That is all.

Tulle + Vera Wang = the female wedding equivalent of a man owning a Porsche.

Sometimes I like the idea of a simple dress and a country-style wedding in the woods.

And sometimes I want a wedding in the winter, a dress with sleeves, dark dark flowers...

I love: scalloping

I absolutely need this.

Such a nice twist on classic flats.
Vintage love of my life.
It's perhaps a liiiiiiiiittle too baby pink for me, but with a white summer dress, it would be lovely.
These shorts are to die for.

This shirt is just...
so.
perfect.
I already have twenty occasions lined up for it.

The scalloping here is divine. Totally love the sleeve detail. Need.

Already have ten ideas for outfits with this one.

My only question is WHY

Because there are many occasions that simply demand a lace onesie.

Ultimate Christmas List

In my deepest hour of procrastination, I've compiled my dream amaze-balls wish list for Christmas slash my birthday. If I could have it all, it would be right from here...

First let's talk dresses:
I have this crazy obsession with white dresses and black tights, and this one would do just that absolutely beautifully.

I love love love the neckline. And I kinda like the idea of a longer skirt, SO over minis.

What am I saying, minis are always great. Like this one! AH-dore the color, especially now that I've gone back to brown hair. I'm thinking this dress, burgundy tights, blackboots. Adorbs.

This dress is out of control hotness. I've seen about five thousand sequined dresses this season, but this is the only one that fully pleases me. And I kinda like that the color isn't the usual sequin spectrum of black, silver, or gold. LOVE.

Now what's a girl to do without shoes...

I've had my eye on these bad boys for like ten months. SO. GORGEOUS. I want them so so bad with black tights and a cute dress for my engineering ring ceremony.
Now maybe I've watched too much of The Rachel Zoe Project, but I think I'm kinda over skinny jeans. Like they're great, but I need to try something new. These shoes are screaming take me out with flared jeans and a flowery loose top. Yes please!
Anyone who knows me knows my obsession with Toms. SO COMFY. It's like walking on a cloud. These would be the ultimate chic neon cloud.

Finally, no look is complete without cuuuuuuuute accessories:

This hat is just perfection. Neons = love. Fair isle = my biggest winter obsession every year. Together, PERFECT COMBO. I just wanna wear this every day.
I've been on a green bag hunt for about a month now. This one is a tiny bit smaller than I would have liked, ideally, but the bow just totally makes up for it. Need this.

Yes, this bag makes me a huge unimaginative sellout. Everyone has a Le Pliage, but isn't that the point? I need one so that I have one. Basically. And I like this yellow color, kinda stands out a bit more than the usual black.

I hate to put up something from Gap, seeing as I feel the last five years I've been mortally wronged. I used to be their biggest fan, but the clothes are now just so... ugly. And cheap too. But this scarf is kinda cute. I love the neon edges, I would totally wear this. But I'd love it even more if it were an infinity scarf.
I'm a very recent convert to cocktail rings. And this big-ass Kate Spade one is just a beauty.

Oh goodness, too many beautiful things, not enough time to post them all...

#27: Cook Thanksgiving dinner

Yes, I realize Thanksgiving was ages ago. But due to a turkey shortage not once but twice (Canadian AND American Thanksgiving), we decided to get creative and celebrate a random day.

Now I've done Thanksgiving dinner before, so why put it on my list? Ten years ago, if you'd asked me the meaning of that day, I would have probably said a day off school. Then we moved to Alberta where it's a bigger deal, and my outlook on the holiday changed. Now I have happy memories of Thanksgivings spent with friends and family eating a lovely traditional turkey dinner. And I wanted to share that experience with others. So I invited a few friends, two of whom had never done Thanksgiving EVER, due to the fact that they are from Saudi Arabia. It was really fun to do the whole turkey-mashed potato-sweet potato-gravy-etc. deal for them. And of course it was pretty pleasing to see them get up for second servings. :)

Here's a little picture with all the food and Eddie, the love of my life who I tend to feed in an attempt to keep him from starvation (kidding.. sorta).

#11: Attend a potluck

I feel like a potluck is just such a must for any proper university experience. Most people go to many, I had gone to zero. So I stuck it on the list. And then I went to a potluck. And it was amazing.

The potluck was our last POWE social event of the semester, and I had a blast. I almost shed a tear, realizing how much I love these girls. As I videotapped them dancing to Beyonce and laughing hysterically, I realized how fantastic POWE is. It's exactly what I'd envisioned, girls being girls and supporting one another and just being silly. While eating delicious food.

Best. Night. Ever.

*For those totally confused as to what POWE is, it's actually a committee aimed at helping women in engineering. It began as a way to promote career-related opportunities; this year it feels like it's grown into a sisterhood. I have the chance of being on the committee as their VP University Affairs. And I really couldn't see myself anywhere else.

12 Before '12

I was reading one of the five thousand blogs I follow semi-regularly the other day, and saw this very cool concept of doing a "12 before '12" list. Basically it's just twelve things you want to accomplish before 2012. I like the short time span and the fact that if I complete this, I'm gonna feel hella accomplished on January 1st 2012. So here's mine!

1. Learn how to use photoshop.
It's my unofficial New Year's resolution (right under eat better and actually go to the gym) to really upgrade this blog. So I must learn to use this tool. My friend Katie, over at Adieu Aurelia is a total pro at it, and has inspired me to try as well, because I seriously covet her blog's look these days.

2. Finish a book.
I used to love reading. Now all I can really say I've read are coursepacks about pipe sizing and textbook about reactions engineering. Barf. So as soon as December 21st hits, I will throw myself back into the third book of the Millenium trilogy (which I had started but has been collecting dust all semester now).

3. Actually get a real night's sleep.
At first I wanted a proper night's sleep, or a sleep marathon. Now I've decided to perform a "bed-in," and so mom, you've been informed now, sometime during break I will spend 24hrs in my bed, getting up only for the bathroom and food.

4. Pass all my classes.
Ya, for some, that's a given. But for the engineering world..... It's always a toss-up. So in order to feel like I truly deserve my Christmas vacation, I plan to be absolutely insane and study like 15hrs a day for 2 weeks. Then I will pass everything, drink a lot of champagne, and then... well, see #3. Also having this on my list is like my positive thinking moment of the day!

5. Finish training my cat.
We've conquered the morning routine, she can now hold off until 10am before jumping on me. Sometimes she won't even jump, she'll just meow or she will lie on top of me and purr really loud until I get up. Which I can't say is the worst thing ever. Still. We gotta polish that one off before she meets Grandma Line, cause those shenanigans won't fly in her house, lemme tell ya.

6. Write a post for my bestie Sarah's wonderful new blog, Art for Art.
I really want to work on my writing abilities, and I feel like this is a great opportunity for a really cool project. I just need to brainstorm on what exactly I'm going to talk about!

7. Write a book review for the lovely Sarah.
So again, more writing. Sarah just needs a ton of writing samples from people and well I love to whore around my writings. I plan to write on a book I fell in love with years and years ago. Stay tuned, I'll post it on this blog too!

8. Paint my nails AND toenails.
Ok this one sounds dumb, I know. But for about two months now, I haven't painted either, and I feel naked! And unkept!

9. Invest in fleece-lined leggings.
Winter is coming, ok? And while I used to hate leggings so so much (leggings are not pants!!), I kinda love wearing them with tunic-length shirts now. So fleece lining means I can continue this even when it's freezing outside. Yay! Also did you all know there's fleece-lined jeans? My question is, how long must those take to dry after a wash, RIGHT!!!

10. Watch the new Twilight movie.
I'm just curious to see if I'll have a seizure too...

11. Finish my pile of magazines.
Every December, I buy a copy of all the magazines I love (Glamour, Fashion, Elle Canada, InStyle, and even the dirty dirty Cosmopolitan), because this month and only this month, I get to read MY horoscope. In big, expanded form. Right now I have my core five piled up on my desk, begging for a read. Before January 1st, I will get through them all!

12. Become a bona fide tea addict.
I feel like this will bring about many positive things. Firstly, it helps keep you from getting sick, cause the heat kills bacteria or something. I'm not sure about that one, but a med student told me that, so I took it as factual. ALSO. Tea is mostly water, which means I will drink more water, which will do wonders for my skin and such.
But most of all, let's be honest, I just want to look cool carrying a cup around all the time, and chai tea is yummy.
How will I measure this feat? If my tea drinking abilities are at 3 cups a day by January 1st, I will give myself a thumbs up in the mirror and consider this task accomplished!

Wish me luck, and let's check back in January 1st to see how (hopefully) well I did!
